Bioclimatic Envelope System (BES)
The Bioclimatic Envelope System (BES) as passive cooling preventative technique for the external and internal walls, it is the most important building element for buildings in areas with very high humidity like tropical climates. Designed as a “plaster-like” applicable membrane with the characteristics of a breathable skin, it keeps buildings cool reducing the need for air conditioning.
The BES was introduced in Europe more than 10 years ago to withstand the Mediterranean climate challenges (which are similar in tropical climates) and is has proven itself successfully.
The BES comprises CLIMASKIN (hygrothermal plaster) + CLIMAFIN (hygrothermal skim coat) and it can be painted over.
The BES has 3 important functions:

Reducing the ETTV & RETV
It is a cost-efficient investment that offers excellent performance and economical value for new constructions as well for retrofit projects (Bioclimatic retrofit). It can be applied on any type of wall: precast concrete, RC wall, bricks, AAC blocks, CMU blocks. etc. It is the best way to reduce the ETTV or the RETV in order to obtain the maximum of 12 points for the BCA Green Mark score.

HOW IT WORKS
Walls without BES
Thermal mass is a term that describes the ability of a material to store heat. Concrete and masonry products do this well and, being dense materials, can store a lot of heat. They absorb heat during the day, conducting it inwardly and releasing it during the night.
Walls with BES internally
It’s a great solution where external application is not possible. Protecting the walls internally the stored heat is released outdoors, helping the indoors to cool down faster.
Walls with BES externally
The BES having the ability to dissipate heat, it responds naturally to changing conditions. It helps to stabilise the internal temperature and provides a largely self-regulating environment, protecting from overheating and reducing the need for air conditioning. Additionally it has no thermal expansion or shrinkage, it's UV resistant, fireproof, cannot be affected biologically, resistant to acids, lye and organic solvents.
